Zachary turned 1! He is outspoken, independent and very handsome little guy 🙂
Here is what Zach’s mom shared about the photo session:
“We chose this session to commemorate Zach’s first birthday. When planning, I found it very helpful to visit your studio prior to the sessions. I was able to see what props were available. It was also an opportunity for you to meet Zach and see how his personality would affect the shoot.
… Zach loves being outdoors surrounded by water and rocks. That made the location of his photo session perfect. We were so happy with prior sessions you had taken at that location.
His favorite color is red and he loves throwing balls and reading books. Zach had his picture taken with a stuffed longhorn, named Bevo, in support of his father’s alma mater. The stuffed animal was used in his newborn pictures and in every monthly picture the past year.
We are very happy with the proofs and can’t wait to see the prints! “
I fell in love with this family, for many reasons… I was counting the days to hear the news about Harper’s birth… I was so excited to meet Harper, that I stayed in touch and kept checking in 🙂 I am so happy to welcome Harper into this world and capture these priceless first portraits for her family to treasure!
Please, allow me to share with you what Harper’s mom wrote to me, the words that brought happy tears to my eyes… and not because of the appreciation, gratitude and admiration of my work, but the way they feel about their first daughter, Harper. Here it is :
“As I searched for a newborn photographer in Denver your work absolutely stood above any other photographer’s work that I could find. When I ran across your website I immediately knew that I wanted to have you photograph our baby girl. I have always dreamed to have my baby photographed in this way. The art behind your newborn photography is fascinating to me. As a child, I was in love with Anne Geddes photography. I had all of her books. Your work reminded me of her work.
Marina, you were immensely helpful during the preparation process as well as photo session. I was impressed that you had spent over a couple of hours with me when we first met to discuss doing a session. Then you spent a lot of time with me making sure colors were right, that you were taking shots that I would personally connect with and making sure I like the background and props. I wanted to capture the love of us as parents and then I also wanted beautiful photos of her. I went with lighter color clothing because I like a more natural look. I choose the accessories and props based on what I thought went best with our home and her nursery. And you took to heart the photos that I sent you via Pinterest and you made it your mission to ensure that captured exactly what we wanted.
The results are fantastic. You captured incredible photos of our little angel and we will cherish these photos forever. Your work is art that is well beyond photography. How you mold the baby and work with the baby during the session is truly amazing. I am in awe of your talent and the work that you produce.
The session captures a complete change in our lives. It is incredibly special to welcome our little girl into our lives. Words can’t describe the feeling. We are looking forward to taking long walks on the beach with our little Harper, spending time on the water, teaching her to swim and spending time hiking and enjoying the snowy mountains in the winter. I am most proud to just be her mom. She adds tremendous joy into our lives and offers us a love that is incomparable to anything we have experienced.”

Welcome Levi! His loving and beautiful family now is feeling even more happy and content with Levi’s arrival 🙂 Here is what Levi’s mommy shared with me:
“…I wanted to capture my son as a newborn. Within six weeks he doubled in size (weight and length). All I have left of that special stage in his life are these beautiful photos. These photos represent innocence, a new beginning, life changes and love. I will never have him at that stage again; it lasted for only so long. I fully regret not doing the same for my first child.
When I first met you, at that promotional photo event, my daughter was getting her photos taken and I was about 7 months pregnant. You brought some of your professional work with you. Looking at them, I knew that I would not pass up a chance to capture my second child as a newborn.
You helped me prepare for this session tremendously by meeting with my husband and I ahead of time. When we met about a month before my son’s due date, we went over the costs and discussed expectations of the photo shoot on both our ends (ie: when to arrive, how long the session will take, the different poses we will use, props to accessorize the shoot, etc.). We wanted to capture the feeling. So when we started choosing the props, we chose what felt right and what came to us.
We also saved dates in the calendar. I was relieved to know that we didn’t just save one date. Rather you saved about a week in your schedule. This was done so that after the baby was born we had some flexibility on when to have the session. The calendar block helped out a lot because not only did I need a little more time to heal from the delivery post hospital stay, my husband was working and his schedule wasn’t as flexible.
And now, I am so pleased with the results. The photos are sharp and clear. The props used and the way the baby was positioned in the photos look timeless. The photos remind me of how far we have come and how precious those moments were; the purpose of taking these photos was fulfilled.
This session reflects on innocence, the early stages of my baby’s life, the sweet moments I had alone with him postpartum, the wonderful changes in our family’s life, and a new love.
I am proud that my baby was healthy and thriving at that age; that was the most important thing to me. Now at a little over 2 months, he lifts his head up, he can recognize faces, he is cooing and cawing, and he is finally sleeping long hours at night (almost 6 hours!).
We didn’t quite get ready for the session. I had an outfit for my daughter to wear for the “sibling” part and my husband and I cleaned up (showered, did our hair, applied very little makeup). We wanted the inspiration to come to us in the moment. I am not one to prepare every single detail as it takes away from the natural feeling of taking photos. In the end, the results were perfect. The portraits turned out easy-going, relaxed, spontaneous; it captured a beautiful feeling and a beautiful moment.”
This family is special to me! I watched Nora grow up and the family grow… I truly enjoyed getting to know their family and becoming friends over the years. I can’t express how much I love, appreciate and value our relationship! The birth of baby Christian is another chapter that I am so excited about 🙂
Here is what Christian’s and Nora’s mom wanted me to share with you…
“We did a newborn photo session with our daughter so it felt right to do it for her brother too. When its your second go round you know how quickly they grow so we wanted to have portraits to remember the early days with our sweet baby boy.
And I LOVE the result of this session! Our family portrait is lovely and the images of Christian with his sister and dad are heartwarming. I really had a tough time picking my must-have images. The ones of him and his sister will forever remind me of the sheer love she has for him. Theres not a day that goes by that she doesn’t express how much she loves him! Its the best!
Christian loves to sleep! (Boy are we thankful for that) When he is awake he enjoys cooing and smiling. Often times he refuses to eat because he wants to chat. 🙂
I loved this session with Nora and her parents just as much as I had enjoyed each and every session with this family! These 2 amazing parents instill happiness that Nora radiates into the world! I am blessed to watch this family grow for 3 years now… and I Love them to pieces!
Here is what Nora’s mom had emailed me to share with you all…
“…Nora has a deep love for reading and being read to. She loves all things animals with hippos and horses being her favorite animals at the moment. Lately she’s into playing dress up and putting together puzzles. Thanks to our most recent vacation, she now has a deep love for donuts!
Nora’s vocabulary is continuously growing. Everyday she surprises us by putting more words into sentences! It’s a joy to listen to her. Physically she loves to jump, spin, toss and catch. One of her great accomplishments right now is potty training even though we haven’t completely mastered it, she insists on doing things all on her own. We love that she is so eager to learn and is usually willing to try things at least once. Dad and I couldn’t be prouder of this precocious, independent girl!
As a family we love to travel, read together at bedtime, ride bikes, go for walks in our neighborhood or to the park. Enjoying dinner at the table every evening is a must for us as we like to share each others day.
And of course we choose to continue to use you as our photographer because of your ability to capture raw emotion in your images. Your always willing to do what it takes to make our entire family feel comfortable in front of the camera. Of course your patience with Nora has always been remarkable. You always make her feel at ease!
..I was hesitant about the outcome due to the dreary weather that day but was pleasantly surprised that the weather had no impact on our session. Once again your images didn’t disappoint! Our portraits are beautiful!
This session reflects on the connection we share as a family along with our individual relationships with Nora. Although Nora shares a different connection with me than that of her father, both are very important in shaping her as well as our family.
I wanted to capture the final weeks of my pregnancy along with our final days as a family of three. I wanted images that I could look back on to remind me of when it was just the three of us. A time when Nora taught us so much by making us parents.”
This session was special… I got to photograph a family who’s daughter I watched growing up for the last few years. Brittany, who visited me 3 times in the first year, now came back for her new portraits! Back in early spring, I suggested we would wait until these blossoms… and what a treat! They turned out to be the icing on the cake! Brittany – gorgeous little lady grew up to be so smart, independent, emotionally mature for her age and very very talkative! Amazing expressions and emotions! Watching this family being so in love, caring for each other, poured some extra love into my heart 🙂
Here are a few words this family wanted to share with you all…
“We decided to do this photo session because my daughter just recently turned 2 and it had been a year since we last had her pictures taken. Children change and grow so quickly in the first several years and we wanted to make sure to capture what she looks like at each age.
We chose Marina for this photo session because we had used her in the past and LOVE her work. The photos always turn out amazing. She has a way of capturing moments with our daughter that are very natural and endearing. I have no doubt we will cherish the photos she has created for us for many more years to come. And on top of that, Marina does a great job of working with each client on a very personal level. She really gets to know you and becomes a friend.

We could not be more pleased with the results of the session. Marina is truly a miracle worker. About mid-way through our session, Britt started to lose interest in taking more photos, but Marina patiently continued on. After looking at the photos, you would never know our daughter threw any kind of a fit mid-way through. The photos are still phenomenal!
Marina worked with us closely to prepare for the session. She encouraged us to bring Britt’s favorite teddy bear, toys, etc. so that we could capture her with these items and remember years from now what Britt liked at 2-years-old. Marina also gave us tips on wardrobe, which was very helpful.”
Here are a few words about this amazing little girl: “Britt is a very picky eater, but her favorite food is mac ‘n cheese. She doesn’t necessarily have a favorite color yet, but is currently learning to pair names of colors with the correct color. Britt LOVES to read, hence why we brought books to be included in our photo session. She doesn’t necessarily have a favorite, but LOVES flipping through any book that has vibrant pictures. She really likes to watch movies and her favorite changes from week to week. Currently, we have been watching a lot of “Toy Story.” Britt loves her “mama,” “dada,” “gra-ma(s)” and “papas.” She loves animals, especially her grandparent’s dogs.
Now 2, Britt is saying new words and phrases everyday. I am constantly amazed at how much she is communicating with us. At this age, I am most proud of her personality. We often joke about how “crazy & spirited” she is, but truly her bold, go-getter personality leads me to believe she will do great things in this world. It is such a blessing to watch her grow!
Britt LOVES to spend time together as a family. Any time we go somewhere she asks if “mama and dada (are coming) too.” We love to watch movies together, play at the park or outside, make up our own games, go shopping, cook meals and just be together.
To me this session reflects on the bond we have created together as a family. I love how Marina’s approach for this session was to capture natural moments of TJ and I playing with our daughter. When Britt came in to our lives 2 years ago, she changed us forever. I think this session reflects the beautiful outcome of that transition.
