This photo newborn session was wonderful! I truly enjoyed cuddling Autumn and getting to know her family! I had asked the mother to answer a few of my questions, answers to which I am happy to share here:
We chose to have this session with you, Marina because we got to have it in the comfort of our home and I was wanting pictures of my newborn here, in a home where she will be growing up.
We wanted to capture those precious moments of our little girl when she was tiny.
I was using google to find newborn photographers. I was very happy to choose you as our photographer because you were really nice, accommodating and your work was certainly beautiful.
I believe your talent, the pictures you create and that you come to the home to take pictures – all that was so worth paying your fee for! I think it’s better to have someone with experience take the pictures so they come out wonderful . If I did it myself, I am sure it wouldn’t have turn out as good 🙂
I researched photo ideas for the session, I feel like talking to you beforehand gave you a good idea of what I liked and was looking for in final photographs – so you knew what kinds of props to bring.
The info you provided ahead of time – was very helpful. The result is – photos of our little girl are as beautiful as she is!
Welcome beautiful Avery and Claire! It was such a joy working with this family and these precious little angels in my studio for their newborn portraits. Twins photo session was a little challenging but despite it all we were able to create most beautiful memories for the family to treasure! Here is what the twins mom had shared with me recently:
…”I knew that I wanted to have high quality, beautiful portraits taken of my newborn twins even before they were born. It was so important to me to capture the moments in their newborn life in a meaningful way.
And your photos are more than just photos; they are art. As I looked at photos on your blog before the girls were born, I instantly felt a connection to the style of photography you provide and knew you would provide the highest quality photos.
The quality of your photos is beyond what I would ever have expected, and I felt that paying for this excellent quality was worth it. Working with you was much better than I could imagine I could do myself (or anyone else I imagine could do) given your expertise with newborn posing and your expertise in actually taking beautiful photos. I also believe that your patience with newborns and allowance for additional session days as needed is something unique to the service you provide compared to other photographers.
Your attention to detail with posing/backgrounds/lighting excelled anything I would have ever been able to do myself. Working with you was so easy and made the process so enjoyable: I utilized the advice you gave me, and made sure we had plenty of food for the girls. I also made sure that the session was timed well with the girls schedule such that we could feed them and have them fall asleep right at the beginning of the session in your studio.
I now have beautiful photos of my newborn twin girls which I have been able to display all over my house, and I couldn’t be happier with your work and the resultant photos. Most people who have come to visit and have seen the photos cannot believe how beautiful the photos have turned out, including people who recently had children and used other photographers. Looking at the photos everyday brings back so many good memories about the girls in their newborn period. I can’t say enough about how happy I was to work with you for these photos.
Now the girls are a little older and the girls’ as mom shared, they “love colorful toys that make noise, and they love to listen to music and kick their feet to the music ! As a family, we like to go for walks in wash park and enjoy spending time in the mountains.
The girls are smiling, laughing, cooing, and are gaining much better head control as they become more interactive with the world. I am proud of both of my girls for being so happy and meeting their developmental milestones despite being born a month early!”
And I am so happy to stay in touch and get to know how the girls are doing now. 🙂 I already can’t wait to see them for our next photo session when the girls are sitting up!
Welcome Levi! His loving and beautiful family now is feeling even more happy and content with Levi’s arrival 🙂 Here is what Levi’s mommy shared with me:
“…I wanted to capture my son as a newborn. Within six weeks he doubled in size (weight and length). All I have left of that special stage in his life are these beautiful photos. These photos represent innocence, a new beginning, life changes and love. I will never have him at that stage again; it lasted for only so long. I fully regret not doing the same for my first child.
When I first met you, at that promotional photo event, my daughter was getting her photos taken and I was about 7 months pregnant. You brought some of your professional work with you. Looking at them, I knew that I would not pass up a chance to capture my second child as a newborn.
You helped me prepare for this session tremendously by meeting with my husband and I ahead of time. When we met about a month before my son’s due date, we went over the costs and discussed expectations of the photo shoot on both our ends (ie: when to arrive, how long the session will take, the different poses we will use, props to accessorize the shoot, etc.). We wanted to capture the feeling. So when we started choosing the props, we chose what felt right and what came to us.
We also saved dates in the calendar. I was relieved to know that we didn’t just save one date. Rather you saved about a week in your schedule. This was done so that after the baby was born we had some flexibility on when to have the session. The calendar block helped out a lot because not only did I need a little more time to heal from the delivery post hospital stay, my husband was working and his schedule wasn’t as flexible.
And now, I am so pleased with the results. The photos are sharp and clear. The props used and the way the baby was positioned in the photos look timeless. The photos remind me of how far we have come and how precious those moments were; the purpose of taking these photos was fulfilled.
This session reflects on innocence, the early stages of my baby’s life, the sweet moments I had alone with him postpartum, the wonderful changes in our family’s life, and a new love.
I am proud that my baby was healthy and thriving at that age; that was the most important thing to me. Now at a little over 2 months, he lifts his head up, he can recognize faces, he is cooing and cawing, and he is finally sleeping long hours at night (almost 6 hours!).
We didn’t quite get ready for the session. I had an outfit for my daughter to wear for the “sibling” part and my husband and I cleaned up (showered, did our hair, applied very little makeup). We wanted the inspiration to come to us in the moment. I am not one to prepare every single detail as it takes away from the natural feeling of taking photos. In the end, the results were perfect. The portraits turned out easy-going, relaxed, spontaneous; it captured a beautiful feeling and a beautiful moment.”
I had a great time with this family, creating precious photographs of their second daughter. As always I loved every minute of this experience and sounds like the family did too 🙂 Here is what they wanted to share with the blog readers:
“This time we wanted to truly celebrate the birth of our second daughter. For the first child 7 years ago we went with a much simpler and cheaper photo studio and the results were quiet disappointing. Marina gave us the results we could just dream about: superb quality, amazing props, beautiful backgrounds. And her gentle approach, patience and knowledge with our baby and with our family were unprecedented. We really were looking for the best of the best. Several friends referred us to Marina as THE premiere Denver baby photographer. The portfolio was very representative of Marina’s work: beautiful poses, the cutest props that highlight each baby’s best features. No other photographer we considered came close.
Marina provided her extensive expertise in the area of baby photography. She gently and carefully worked for literally hours to make each pose just perfect. The photo equipment she used was high end which provided us with the most clear high resolution images.
We love the images we ended up with! Our baby looks even more beautiful then in real life! What a wonderful keepsake!
Marina took her time preparing us for the session. She explained what kind of clothing and colors would look best for each member of the photo session and how colors should be combined to look their best. It was really helpful to me as I have a very limited understanding of the photo process and what looks best with what on print. It was fun to take her recommendations and go shopping for those special looks for the entire family!
At this point my baby is 4 weeks old and she is starting to hold her head up, she recognizes various noises and seems to be recognizing family members. Spending time with daddy seems to be her favorite time: she studies his face with her eyes and smiles!
We spend a lot of time as a family. We really like traveling, going to the movies, ride bikes together and hike.
This session to me is a beautiful opportunity to freeze a moment in time when my kind are so young and we are one big family. I am sure the beautiful images that Marina captured will be treasured for years to come!”
Welcome Maddox and Makenzie! I must say I loved spending time with these two cuties 🙂 It was simply a pleasure to photograph these twins! Sleepy and happy the entire time… which resulted in some beautiful portraits that this family will treasure and enjoy forever.
Welcome Dana! Gorgeous 7 days old baby girl who was born to very creative parents 🙂 What is the better way to share with all of you about their session than their own words…: “We wanted to have pictures of Dana when she was just a newborn. We were looking for pictures that were really adorable and cute that would help us remember how small she was at that age.
We chose Marina because looking at her images we noticed and liked how she focused on every little detail and made the child look amazing while the baby was asleep. Plus, we loved her props and how unique they were.
I greatly appreciate how much Marina focuses on what the parents want. During the preparation process she listened to my needs and appreciated my creativity.
Marina was extremely patient and understanding throughout the whole photo session. The session went smoothly even though Dana woke up many times throughout the session. Marina was extremely patient during those moments when I was putting Dana to sleep, and she made sure she was ready for the next set. She made everyone feel comfortable and provided everything for the baby and us, parents. She was easy to work with and was very organized and detail-oriented. I’m glad her idea of perfection is the same as mine.
The session was very creative and reflected on my passion for the piano and my husband’s passion for his alma mater.I am very passionate about classical music. My life and world revolve around the piano and I wanted to showcase that in the photo shoot. My husband is passionate about Texas University. He loves burnt orange… go longhorns!
So I chose to use a toy piano for Dana because I am a pianist and wanted to showcase how small she was 7 days after she was born. She fit right on top of a grand toy piano. I chose to put her in a tutu with a headband to show the simplicity of a newborn baby.
Dana’s father decided to bring his Texas Longhorn helmet and flag to represent his school and his love for UT.
The other props and clothes (that Marina provided) we decided to use to expose the girly-ness and beauty of our baby girl. We wanted to bring out the beauty of a newborn and show off how small she was by putting her in a hammock, on top of a piano, and in a bucket.
We wanted the images to portray Dana’s beauty, her flexibility, how small she was at that time… Making her look like a cute baby girl was very important to us!”
Baby Lyla was 12 days old at her very first photo session. She was so sweet and beautiful and sleepy… I loved photographing her that day!
I was so excited to collaborate with the mother and create a surprise photograph for a father portraying their love for music. And it turned out beautiful!
Enjoy!
